A new political group is on the scene in Fairbanks, the progressive Ladies of the Valley Political Action Committee.
The group registered in early August and will be holding its first general membership meeting this Sunday, Sept. 23. According to registration filed with the Alaska Public Offices Commission, the group plans to be involved in this year’s state general election.
The group is chaired by Joan Miller and the treasurer is Marilyn Guttenberg, Rep. David Guttenberg’s wife.
The group’s Facebook page says it’s independent and not controlled by a political party or candidate. It’s APOC report states the group’s purpose is “To enhance the quality of life in the Tanana Valley by supporting candidates that are in agreement with our values.”
The meeting is planned to be held at Ravens landing #2, ground floor on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 978-774.
