Ed Plumb, local adventurer and organizer of the White Mountains 100, will be talking about winter recreation in the White Mountains National Recreation Area tonight at the Noel Wien Library beginning at 7 p.m.

Plumb has done several ski trips in the 2-million-acre recreation area just north of Fairbanks and is also the one that came up with the White Mountains 100, a 100-mile race for skiers, runners and cyclists held in March.

Plumb will be talking about different ways to enjoy the White Mountains in the winter, from hiking to skiing to snowmachining to fat biking.

Plumb’s talk is part of the Northern Voices speaker series for the winter of 2012 sponsored by the Northern Alaska Environmental Center.
