ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Police say two employees of an Anchorage store caught a man trying to steal over $500 worth of merchandise and restrained him until police arrived.

Police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker says 25-year-old Brian Sliker has been charged with robbery for allegedly attacking two employees of Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking.

Employees told police that Sliker was found Tuesday with $509 worth of cross-country ski clothing under his own clothing. They told police when they stopped Sliker in the parking lot, he struck one employee and slashed the other on the hand.

Police say in another robbery, two people were arrested after trying to steal four electronic devices from Best Buy. Police say employees were told one had a gun and pepper spray. Fifty-year-old Joseph Wingate and 28-year-old Megan Allen were arrested.
