John Carlin III sits in an Anchorage courtroom on Jan. 18, 2008, during his sentencing for the 1996 murder of Kent Leppink. Carlin was sentenced to 99 years in prison for being the triggerman in a plot with former stripper Mechele Linehan to kill Leppink for a $1 million life insurance policy. Mechele Linehan was sentenced to 99 years on April 2, 2008, for her part in the Leppink's murder.
