Alaska Nanooks ski team assistant coach Ingrid Olson glides by an electronic timing receiver as she and head coach Scott Jerome tested skis Friday afternoon, March 21, 2008, at Birch Hill. With the US Distance National Ski Championships scheduled for next weekend, Jerome and Olson utilized an electronic timer to record the glide time of a waxed ski in an effort to obtain peak performance out of the teams equipment. Later they will make a computer spreadsheet out of the timer data and analyze any discrepancies between pairs of skis. “It’s kinda nice, it takes the guesswork out of it,” said Jerome of the technological tools.
