CHESAPEAKES.jpg These two Alaskan born and raised Chesapeake Bay Retrievers love being my 24/7 shadows. Three-year-old Wildwoods Journey, sitting, and Wildwoods Otter, 6, are both accomplished sled dogs since they could fit a puppy harness. Journey just accomplished a new feat by winning two separate Weight Pull championships in Fairbanks this last month. They were his very first attempts at competing in a Weight Pull competition and he ate it up. I have used Journey and Otter the last couple years to haul firewood for neighbor during the winter from their woodshed to the cabin. I would load the sled with wood and they both would have to pull real hard to get it there, but they loved to work and always got rewarded with a stick to play with. They excel in water and retrieving and just flat enjoy life to its fullest. I would be greatly amiss without them in my life. This breed has been my best companion for many years now. There is nothing quite like a Chesapeake Bay dog. They are true Alaskan canines.
