To the editor:
The Alaska Constitution, Article 8, Section 2, states: “The legislature shall provide for the utilization, development and conservation of all natural resources belonging to the State, including land and water, for the maximum benefit of its people.”
Governor Parnell and his Republican minions propose to give more than $2 billion of oil revenues belonging to the state of Alaska and to you and all Alaska citizens to the oil companies with no guarantees. A political giveaway. All Democrats running for office oppose this giveaway.
Read our Alaska Constitution and vote for those who will provide for the maximum benefit to you and to me. Vote for Democrats.
The $2 billion oil giveaway is in violation of our constitution as stated. Don’t you agree? Should maximum benefit from our oil go to the people and not the already rich oil companies?
