US involvement in South America

To the editor: When President Donald Trump stated during the election that Mexicans were rapists and murderers I was shocked. Actually most murders and rapes in the U.S. are by white American men. Mass shootings (terrorist attacks) that occurred at the synagogue and at mosques recently were done by white men.

The recent influx of migrants coming from Guatemala is due to a coup that took place with U.S. involvement that put despots in control of the country.

As if that isn’t a lesson, the U.S. is trying to overthrow the elected Venezuelan government for their oil. Mike Pompeo and Elliot Abrams are working hard to destabilize the area. Elliot Abrams was convicted for his role in setting up death squads in Nicaragua during the Reagan Era and Iran Contra Affair.

The over throw of South and Central American governments took place repeatedly during the 20th century. There is an excellent book called “War is a Racket” by Marine General Smedley Butler, a two time Medal of Honor recipient, who fought in the Spanish American War and World War I.

It is worth a read. There is also much more of enlightenment on YouTube about the U.S. involvements is South America and elsewhere.
