To the editor: Devastating vetoes are looming over our communities in similar menacing fashion as the clouds of smoke from the many fires that are raging throughout our state.
Our strength of commitment to responsible programs of public safety, education, humanitarian and cultural needs is being tested. Our responsibility as community caretakers requires that we do all that we can to prevent the tragic aftermath of quick and careless housecleaning, which takes many years, sometimes decades, to rebuild.
We must not only speak but also listen to our fellow citizens, so that we are assured of a securely constructed community voice that is carefully considering the well-being of all.
There is no room for complacency. Don’t wait for someone to do something. Join the discussion. Let your voice be heard.
Support the valiant efforts of our Legislature to override these prohibitive vetoes.
