Letter to the editor

No more refugees

To the editor: I just read the column in today’s (Jan. 13) Daily News-Miner titled, “Red states should do what’s right, accept refugees.” In all due respect, Alaska and most other states, red or blue, cannot even house our own Americans.

Alaska does not need any more residential construction in my opinion until many of the older homes that are vacant and unsold due to being overpriced and of little value are replaced with new homes. The overpricing conduct will soon wreak havoc on Fairbanks’ economy, as it will soon crash.

You cannot continue to purchase housing that is not worth the selling price, as the buyer will never get their money returned when they need to sell.

All of Fairbanks’ housing for elderly, the Fairbanks Rescue Mission, nursing homes, etc. are full. When is Gov. Mike Dunleavy being excused from office as governor? Soon I hope.
