To the editor: Your opinion, “Remove the McCandless bus,” in the Thursday, Aug. 1 paper is ridiculous and your reasoning absurd.
If we follow your thinking, we should prohibit the climbing of Denali. A hundred people have died trying to climb Denali, and hundreds more needed to be rescued. Let’s prohibit hiking in our state, where more people are killed by bears than while seeking the bus. Add in snowmachining, as more die doing that than going to the bus.
Alaska is wild. Let’s keep it that way.
