Kathryn Dodge for mayor

To the editor: It is human nature to always want to be right, absolutely right, and not want to listen to other people’s ideas. But that mindset is dangerous in a democracy. It results in extreme swings between liberal and conservative, with those in power at the moment cutting off the “other side.”

This is one reason I support Kathryn Dodge for city mayor. She sees truth in both sides’ arguments and allows time for thorough discussion, then crafts a practical solution that is fair to all. It’s time we had some win-win thinking instead of the “I win, you lose” mentality so prevalent today.

I have known Kathryn for about 25 years and worked with her on many efforts to benefit Fairbanks. She is intelligent, thoughtful, persistent and very hardworking and has many years’ experience in local government. She will make an excellent city mayor, and I hope we elect her this October.
