To the editor: I am sick of people telling me I don’t need a PFD. Gov Jay Hammond (God rest his soul) instituted the PFD so that every resident could share in the revenue that oil companies made by drilling in Alaska. Instead of sharing, Gov. Sean Parnell decided (with the help of the Legislature) to take monies designated for citizens to further give tax breaks to the oil companies by passing Senate Bill 21. Repeal SB21 and give us back the money we deserve.
To those who don’t want the PFD, fine, don’t apply for it or apply and give back to the state, but don’t tell me I don’t want or need my PFD — I do.
