Letter to the Editor

Hey, geology lovers

To the editor: Interested in geology? Love the history associated with geology? Our members do. For many members, it is a method to stay connected outside of work or retirement.

We want Fairbanks and surrounding area geology stories and associated history included with ours.

The Alaska Geological Society is a not-for-profit organization of both professional geoscientists and general Earth science enthusiasts. Our mission is to promote interest in, and understanding of, the geology of Alaska and to provide a forum and common organization for those interested in geology and related Earth sciences.

We are an active supporter of geoscience studies within the University of Alaska system, in particular at UAF and UAA. We have an active scholarship program for students who have a love for the sciences we love. We want you to be part of this effort.

We are always looking for new members who share our passion for the science of geology. Those who use geology for mining and oil and gas development. Those who love the history associated with these sciences. Those who just love the geosciences arts.

Our newsletter would love a picture or short story about the geology and history of your area.

We ask that if you are interested in our mission to stimulate interest in and promote the advancement of geology to please join our group.

You can learn more about us on our website (www.alaskageology.org) and join our association.

Please consider sharing your story.
