Fairbanks Daily News-Miner Letter to the Editor

May 30, 2014

To the editor: It is absolutely appalling that KUAC has even been considered for any sort of budget cuts.

KUAC is the voice of UAF. Is the committee ready to be the ones responsible for strangling that voice? It’s unimaginable, the thought that you’d cut your own throat to benefit your wallet! Hard choices be damned. We have more ears tuned to KUAC than any other Interior station.

Those other for-profit radio stations only denigrate our community with hour after hour of repeated mindless drivel. UAF educates the public via its support of KUAC’s public broadcasting of educational programming and news; local, national and abroad. Is it not UAF’s job to educate?

Heaven forbid you don’t get paid for every single person who may benefit from UAF, whether directly or indirectly. Don’t be the ones responsible for stifling the only station whose goal is to uplift and nurture our and your listening public. Leave KUAC well alone.

I’m a proud KUAC Day sponsor and volunteer and I’m ashamed of UAF.

Micheal Albin
