Boylan for school board

To the editor: The Fairbanks North Star Borough school board needs the right mix of political understanding, fiscal responsibility and creativity to promote joyful learning, supported teachers, and great results from our local schools. I have had the privilege of working with Brandon Boylan for nearly four years, and believe his experience and expertise would prove invaluable to our school board.

Boylan’s dedication to education in Fairbanks is multifold. As a parent, he is actively invested and engaged in his child’s education in the local school system. As a college educator, he advocates for rigorous and creative hands-on curriculum like the Model Arctic Council to improve student learning outcomes. As a department administrator, he demonstrates level-headed and fiscally responsible leadership during a challenging time. He is also an active student himself, having just completed an MBA last year while working full time and raising his son.

Boylan has the right background for serving students, teachers and parents as a member of the school board. He will bring practical and creative solutions while promoting fiscally responsible practices. As a parent myself, I am thankful someone as rational and qualified as Brandon Boylan is volunteering his time to serve the Fairbanks community and strongly believe we will be better for it.

Our success as a nation depends on enthusiastic participation in local elections. Please don’t forget to vote Tuesday, and, when you do, please consider voting for Brandon Boylan for Seat C on the borough school board.
