Letter to the editor

May 2, 2014

To the editor: I would like to thank Sen. Click Bishop of Fairbanks for taking a strong stand against Senate Joint Resolution 21 and for his hard-fought effort to preserve the merit-based judicial selection process outlined in the Alaska Constitution. This process has served our state well since statehood.

My late husband served on the Alaska Supreme Court from Fairbanks for nearly three decades. Over the years, he consistently expressed the view that Alaska’s judicial selection process was one of the finest in the nation.

Our judicial selection system has given us a first-class judiciary that is fair and impartial and serves the citizens of Alaska well.
