Letter to the Editor

Bad witches

To the editor:  President Donald Trump has proved once again to earn the nickname “Putin Light.” Just like Republican Sen. Mitch “Man the barricades” McConnell is also known as “Moscow Mitch.”

What event happened the day D.T. had a phone call with Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan? Besides demoralizing, compromising the integrity of our military by ordering them to abandon our Kurdish ally. Did Erdogan threaten to shut down the Trump Tower in Islamabad if he couldn’t invade Syria?

Oh, yeah! It was also Russian President Vladimir Putin’s birthday. Happy birthday, Vlad. Keep eastern Ukraine. Good luck with a larger footprint in the Middle East.

Thousands of ISIS fighters in Kurdish-held prisons have escaped and will likely disperse throughout Europe and elsewhere. Yes, Putin must be very pleased with the undemocratic actions of Putin Light, who also seems to be above the law.

Periodic “seeds of dissent” need to be sown now in order to germinate, then reap tangible results next year.

We patriotic Alaska veterans will be monitoring Junior Sen. Dan Sullivan. Conviction in the Senate will require 20 Republicans to do the right thing. Will he stand up to his colleagues and say “enough is enough”? Or will he lack courage and give the excuses “No way will 20 Republicans vote for conviction” and “So why should I rock the boat?” The motto “Once a Marine, always a Marine” would then not apply to the Junior Senator.

The vote on impeaching and convicting Putin Light is an opportunity. A chance for Lady Justice to regain some dignity. Not just on a Ukraine shakedown. Payback for the two-plus years her investigations were bastardized daily, hourly by Trump sycophants. Not the behavior of innocent people.

Shameless, clueless draft-dodger Commander-in-Chief shamed our professional volunteer military by compromising their honor. He ordered troops to abandon our now-outnumbered, outgunned Kurd ally to be slaughtered by Turks. The proverbial last straw.

Junior Senator Sullivan, vote to convict. Support Lady Justice and our troops. Or remain McConnell’s mousy minion.

Trump, other defendants fighting subpoenas cry incessantly “the investigations are witch hunts.” Hmmm. Only bad witches fear witch hunts.
