To the editor: Sunday, Oct. 6, the Fairbanks Symphony, the Women’s Chorus and a guest scientist from NASA, Dr. Jose Francisco Salgado, collaborated with our great symphony director Eduard Zilberkant to treat the Fairbanks audience to one the most superb and soaring events I have ever experienced. It was the Science and Symphony multimedia concert. Those who were there will not forget it. I only wish more Alaskans could experience this wonderful journey through auroral skies, space and to the sun and planets. It is impossible to describe, as much as it is impossible to convey, and I profoundly thank and acknowledge our local talents: musicians, singers and technicians for giving us this great experience.
Our university has once again given us a gift beyond imagining, something a university can continue to do if we only support it for its true worth. It is impossible for me to conceive of such an event occurring without our university.
I hope you will do so. The whole experience also yields a great admiration for all that our beautiful planet is and instills a great gratitude to its life-giving forces.
Sincerely, and with much thanks to local sponsors, too!
