Letter to the Editor

An absurdity

To the editor: On May 3, 2007, 1st Lt. Steen Rønn Sørensen, 24, was killed in action against the enemy in Helmand, Afghanistan.

This past week, at the last minute, the Very Stable Genius, canceled his trip to the Kingdom of Denmark. To quote the VSG, “Denmark … would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland. I will be postponing our meeting.”

Responding to reports of a proposal to buy Greenland, Denmark’s prime minister had called them “absurd” and said she “strongly hopes that this is not meant seriously.”

Evidently, the VSG’s feelings were hurt that his absurd proposal — if that is what it was, since the VSG lies and flip-flops endlessly on everything — wasn’t taken seriously.

All told, in Afghanistan, 43 citizens of Denmark gave their last full measure defending the United Stated of America — 37 killed in combat and six by nonhostile means. Denmark has lost more per capita than any other ally.

Having thus spat on the graves of our allies, the Very Stable Genius said this week that he thought Putin should be readmitted to the G-7.
