Carl Ben Eielson’s story lives on today in part because of all the public features named for him across Interior Alaska. There’s an Air Force base and an associated junior-senior high school, a street in south Fairbanks, a venerable building at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a visitor center in Denali National Park and a 5,000-foot mountain south of the center.
