Doran Arnold Pelletier
1937 - 2008
Doran Arnold Pelletier passed away in Fairbanks on May 4, 2008, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born in Madawaska, Maine, on Dec. 19, 1937. Doran graduated high school and then served three years in the U.S. Army.
In 1958, Doran moved to Fairbanks, where he loved reading a wide variety of books and building jigsaw puzzles and helping Holly with the flower garden.
Doran was a very helpful, caring and compassionate person and would always help in whatever way he could. He was rough around the edges until you got to know him, then he was a great person.
He loved to learn and was constantly reading a book or the local newspaper trying to keep up on all the world’s events, and when he wasn’t reading he was busy with his many projects.
He loved it this time of year, the start of spring, because he loved being outside, and he knew that summer was just around the corner. He was optimistic about life and always said he had a good life.
His friend Holly said, “One thing I will miss from the many things he did is the sound of him waking up in the morning, making his coffee and setting down to read his newspaper, but most of all I will miss his company and conversations. He could talk about anything and everything or nothing at all and still teach you something. He will never be forgotten.”
Doran is survived by his brother Donald Pelletier of New Britain, Conn.; his sisters, Doris Belluchi of Rocky Hill, Conn., Doreen Broughal of East Windsor, Conn., Jane Pelletier of New Britain and Mary Pelletier of Perham, Maine; best loving and caring friend, Holly Ridenour of Fairbanks; and friend, Anna Ridenour and her children of Fairbanks.
Doran was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Richard.
A private family service was held.
Arrangements were by Fairbanks Funeral Home and Crematory.
