Sandra Lynn Scharf

1961 - 2008

Scharf

Surrounded by family, Sandra Lynn Scharf, 46, passed away peacefully at her home on May 3, 2008, after a long battle with cancer.
Sandra was born to Percy B. Joseph and Marion (Albert) Joseph on July 27, 1961 in Tanana, where she grew up and attended Tanana High School.
Sandra was very creative and enjoyed her beading, sewing and knitting. Working with diamond willow, picking berries, setting snares/traps and going chicken hunting are memories that will stay with the family.
Friends will remember her friendly smile and quick laughter. Memories of her guzzling Pepsi after running in marathons in Tanana and a few in Fairbanks, where she placed nicely, bring a smile to those who knew her. Her children will remember the spalzac for breakfast and the many other foods she was so good at cooking, along with her love and devotion to them. Her loving kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand is spoken of to the family by many.
Sandra will be greatly missed by her surviving family: Loving children, Jesse and Cassandra Joseph, Colten Lambert, Monica Zuray and Gordon Parker; sisters, Jessie Lekanof (Dennis) and Louise Williams; brother, Jerry Joseph; her loving companion, Rodney; nephews and nieces, Reggie, Shalene, Traven, Tresten, Shadren and Fred Joseph, Crystal, Corrine, Caitlyn and Shaun Lekanof, Darryl Albert Jr., Renee Charlie, Byron Peters, Kristi Simon, Coty Joseph-Simon, Calvin, Steven, Kashtin and Heaven Thompson; and many friends and “adopted” nephews and nieces.
Sandra will be welcomed into heaven by her parents and grandparents, Sam and Jessie Joseph and Frank and Alice Albert; siblings, Darryl Albert Sr., Reggie Nusenginia, Fredrick Albert, Gilbert, Cloudy, Diane, Shirley and Christine Joseph.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 8, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Scott Fisher will officiate.
A second service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10, at Tanana Community Hall with the Rev. Ginny Doctor officiating.
Sandra will be laid to rest at the Mission Cemetery with a potlatch to follow.
Arrangements were by Fairbanks Funeral Home and Crematory.
