North Pole wrestlers post win over Lathrop

FAIRBANKS — The North Pole Patriots recorded five pins, a pair of decisions and claimed two forfeits in rolling to a 53-21 high school wrestling dual meet victory against the Lathrop Malemutes on Friday night in North Pole.

The Patriots got pins from Peyton Music at 98 pounds, Cameron Frazier at 106, Austin Cox at 120, Garrett Wollman at 138 and Ben Davis at 220 to overwhelm the Malemutes.

North Pole’s Ethan Schumaker won a major decision at 145 and David Best scored a decision at 160. The Patriots also picked up points from Garrett Bennett at 195 and Dillon Walker at 285 when they won by forfeit.

Lathrop’s Sam Zimmerman earned a technical fall in winning the 152 match for the Malemutes. Jacob Wharton collected a major decision at 170. Other Lathrop winners were decisions by Ben Bennett at 182 and Conal Eager at 126 and a forfeit to Codie Warham at 113.

It was North Pole’s second win of the week as the Patriots downed West Valley 51-18 Tuesday night at West Valley.

Lathrop is back on the mat at noon today with a dual meet at West Valley.

The first half of the high school season concludes Tuesday when North Pole entertains West Valley at

6 p.m.
