JUNEAU, Alaska — Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell raised nearly $200,000 during the last quarter for his U.S. Senate campaign.

Most of the Republican's contributions between July 1 and Sept. 30 came from individuals, with about $10,000 from political committees.

Treadwell reported ending the period with about $155,000 on hand. For the campaign thus far, he's raised close to $340,000. Treadwell announced his plans to run in June.

Campaign spokesman Rick Gorka called the financial support so far "tremendous" and said the campaign is confident it will have the resources necessary to mount a vigorous effort.

Treadwell is among the Republicans seeking the seat held by Democrat Mark Begich, who is seeking re-election next year. Joe Miller and Dan Sullivan are the other most prominent GOP candidates. Sullivan announced his bid earlier this week.
