ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Four public meetings are being held this week on a proposal to move Eielson Air Force Base's F-16 aircraft in Fairbanks to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.

The first of the meetings is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer.

Meetings also are scheduled for Tuesday in Anchorage at Tyson Elementary School, Wednesday at the Princess Riverside Lodge in Fairbanks, and Thursday at North Pole High School.

All meetings start at 6 p.m. A noontime meeting also is scheduled for Fairbanks.

The military is proposing moving 18 F-16 aircraft and three backup aircraft, as well as support and maintenance airmen in order to save money. The move would require that hundreds of military personnel be transferred to JBER and the elimination of 81 positions.
