Nov. 27, 2009 — The poor economy didn’t stop Fairbanksans from helping the neediest members of the community this Thanksgiving.

The Fairbanks Rescue Mission is nearly at full capacity, and though everyone is still hurting from an economy experts say is in the early stages of recession recovery, Rodney Gaskins, the executive director of the mission, said he’s seen no decrease in donations.

Nov. 27, 1994 — Santa’s Clearing House is looking for volunteers to help make Christmas merrier for the community’s less-fortunate people. Volunteers are needed to assess the requirements of families who apply to the charity that provides clothing, food, and toys to about 1,000 families in the area.
