A woman died after being assaulted in the Chena Pump area Friday afternoon, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers received a report shortly after 3 p.m. that an attack had occurred on Carnegie Street. Troopers and emergency medical crews found a woman with life-threatening injuries, according to a troopers news release.
The woman died while being transported to the hospital.
The suspect in the assault fled the scene, but troopers found him and arrested him without incident at 4:37 p.m., according to the news release.
The name of the deceased was not released because next of kin has not been notified. The name of the suspect will be released if and when charges are filed, according to troopers.
