Alaska State Troopers have identified the officers involved in the fatal shooting of a Delta Junction man Tuesday.

According to trooper news release, North Pole detective Nathan Werner and trooper investigator Jack LeBlanc fired on Daniel Jensen after he retrieved a high-powered long gun as they approached a building on his property. Jensen died of his wounds; no one else was injured during the incident.

Both Werner and LaBlanc are members of the troopers’ Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit Fairbanks Narcotics Team and were working with the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force to serve Jensen a felony warrant for multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Werner has 10 years of law enforcement experience and LaBlanc has been a trooper for 12 years, according to the release.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation. After that is completed, the case will be forwarded to the Office of Special Prosecutions for review.
