Dr. Al Gross, an orthopedic surgeon and commercial fisherman, is running for U.S. Senate in the upcoming 2020 elections with hopes to unseat current Sen. Dan Sullivan. With a new fundraising goal recently met, Gross announced Tuesday his plan to stage his central statewide campaign headquarters in Fairbanks.

In addition to naming Fairbanks as the location for his campaign headquarters, Gross announced current Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly member Mindy O’Neall as the campaign’s political coordinator.

“Mindy O’Neall is a dedicated professional who will play an integral role in our victory next November,” Gross said in a statement. “Her understanding of local and statewide politics is remarkable and her proven ability to organize will be key to our victory.”

Gross’ campaign recently reached the campaign goal of $2 million. The campaign is set to announce the Fairbanks headquarters location in the coming weeks.
