FAIRBANKS—Crews working on the Stuart Creek 2 Fire are continuing to create fire breaks and protect structures in the area of Pleasant Valley and Two Rivers today, according to this morning’s update from the Joint Information Center.

The fire’s size is listed at 32,014 acres with zero containment.

The morning update says fire managers want to keep the fire north of the Salcha River, south of the Chena River, east of Transmitter Road, north to Chena River and south along the trans-Alaska oil pipeline to the Salcha River, and west of the south fork of the Chena River, south along east boundary of the training area and south to the Salcha River.

The update says 750 homes, one commercial property and 150 outbuildings are at risk, a marked increase from the 220 listed in a Friday news release.

A community meeting remains scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Community Center, 7234 Anders Ave. Fire management and local officials will give an update and answer questions.
