State scholarships offered for Alaskans

FAIRBANKS — More than 2,000 Alaska students have now qualified for the Alaska Performance Scholarships.

The 2,038 students reported by Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education have been awarded around $8 million in scholarship funds.

The scholarships provide as much as $4,755 each year to qualifying students in Alaska who completed rigorous course work while maintaining strong grades.

In addition to the Performance Scholarships, 2,113 students have been awarded a total of $4 million in AlaskAdvantage Education Grants. Those grants are funded by the Alaska Higher Education Investment Fund and provide up to $3,000 each year to students who demonstrate financial need.

Students can go to aps.alaska.gov to see if they are eligible for certain scholarships and grants. More information on the grants or the Commission can be found on acpe.alaska.gov.
