FAIRBANKS — Free public tours of the Poker Flat Research Range will be offered this summer. Guides will provide the tours weekly on Thursdays from June 12 through July 10, ending with the Golden Days Open House on July 17. Tours begin at 2 p.m. and last approximately one hour. Visitors are asked to check in at the range’s administration building upon arrival.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute owns and operates Poker Flat, the only non-federal university-owned rocket range in the world. It is located 30 miles north of Fairbanks off the Steese Highway.
