Word spread through the Denali area Sunday night that there was a shooting at the Alaska Railroad Depot in Denali National Park. According to Alaska State Troopers, someone had taken his or her own life.

Since the incident took place in the national park, the National Park Service is expected to release additional information. Troopers were on site only to assist park rangers, according to troopers stationed in the Denali area.

The only shot fired was by the person who was found deceased, the trooper added.

For a brief time, the park was in lockdown. Bus drivers reported instructions were radioed to all buses on the park road to stop wherever they were. All entrances to the Denali Visitor Center and the Alaska Railroad Depot were closed, also.
