Park Service shuts down damaged Yukon-Charley airstrip

FAIRBANKS — A remote airstrip in the Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve has been deemed unsafe and was closed by the National Park Service last week.

Gelvin’s Airstrip, located near the headwaters of the Charley River between Circle and Eagle, was closed Aug. 7 as a result of flood damage during spring breakup.
