FAIRBANKS—The bodies of three adults and one child were found in an east Fairbanks hotel room Friday afternoon.

Staff at Hampton Inn and Suites called 911 at about 1:30 p.m. to report a suspicious circumstance, according to a Fairbanks Police Department news release.

"Officers arrived on scene to find an adult male sitting in the hallway of the second floor crying," the news release stated. "The male directed the officers to a nearby room. Officers entered the room and found four deceased individuals."

"The deceased included three adults and one child. All deaths appear to have been caused by gunshots. Names, ages and genders are being withheld as investigation continues," the release said.

Deputy Chief Eric Jewkes said at 4 p.m. that the bodies were still in the room and that police were waiting for a search warrant to be able to proceed.

"What we know is that there's a lot we still don't know. So until we can figure out and put some more pieces together we're not going to talk about a motive or possible scenario of what might have happened," Jewkes said.

There is no threat to the public at this time and further information will be released as it becomes available, according to the news release.

Hampton Inn and Suites is located just north of the Johansen Expressway, east of the College Road offramp.

The room in which the bodies were found was at the end of a second floor hallway, which was blocked off by crime scene tape. Family luggage had been pulled into the hallway and stacked.
