FAIRBANKS - A Fairbanks man will receive a two-year sentence for negligently firing a gun that seriously injured a teenage girl in 2013.

As part of a plea agreement reached Tuesday afternoon, Edward Ervin Ginnis, 28, pleaded guilty to third-degree assault. He fired a .22-caliber Derringer revolver into the forehead of Teil Diaz, 17, in March 2013 at a University West apartment, according to the state’s case against him.
