A 35-year-old Delta Junction man died early Saturday after falling into the Copper River while dip netting at Chitina.
Alaska State Troopers were notified at 12:49 a.m. Saturday that Russell Hepler had fallen into the fast-flowing river and drowned, according to a trooper news release. His body was later recovered. The investigation is continuing, but there are no signs of foul play. Next of kin have been notified.
