A house fire in central Fairbanks late Tuesday took crews more than two hours to extinguish, according to a news release today from the city of Fairbanks.
The fire at the house, located at 530 Front St., was reported at about 8 p.m. and was on the top floor of the three story home.
"Fire crews began immediately fighting the fire and it was contained within 15 minutes of arrival," the news release reads. "However, due to the unique layout of the structure, it took two and a half hours to completely extinguish the fire."
The Fairbanks Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Wainwright Fire Department and University Fire Department.
No injuries were reported, according to the news release, and the Red Cross responded to assist the home's occupants.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Fairbanks Deputy Fire Marshal’s Office at 907-450-6614.
