FAIRBANKS — Friends have created an account for donations to the family of Shjon Brown, the 9-year-old Fairbanks boy who died after falling into a hole in a glacier while snowmachining Saturday.

The account is at Denali Federal Credit Union. The credit union has branches at the Bentley Mall and University Safeway stores and at Walmart.

The account will help cover expenses for Shjon’s family — his father, Roger Brown, and his mother and stepfather, Eleonore and Brandon Waller. For more information, call Ashley at 907-378-1224.

In addition, an online donation site, www.shjonbrown.com, has been established through FundRazr. Bill Bailey of Fairbanks, who set up the site, said donations will go directly to an account held by Eleonore Waller. As of 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, $7,430 had been raised through the site.
