FAIRBANKS — A school bus with five students aboard hit a moose on Murphy Dome Road early Friday morning, but no one was injured except the moose, which was killed in the accident.

Alaska State Troopers said bus driver Ulysses Kropf-Castillo, 22, collided with a calf moose that was crossing the road just before 7 a.m. near 3.5 Mile Murphy Dome Road.

There were five students on the bus but no one was injured, troopers said.

The bus was driven from the scene of the accident and the dead moose was salvaged by a local charity.
