FAIRBANKS — A Fairbanks man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for growing marijuana in 19 greenhouses along the Elliott Highway.
The sentence for Floyd Everett Harshman, 54, is twice the sentence handed down last week for Harshman’s 20-year-old son, Nathanael. It’s also the minimum sentence for the crimes Harshman pleaded guilty to — operating a more than 100-plant marijuana grow and having a firearm while committing a drug crime. Like his son, Harshman admits growing marijuana, but he said the firearm charge was fabricated. He has tried, without success, to withdraw his guilty plea.
