FAIRBANKS — A two-day meeting on Ambler Road is slated to begin today, the day after the project was slashed from Gov. Bill Walker’s budget.

The meeting brings together stakeholders from communities along the proposed 200-mile industrial road from the Dalton Highway to the Ambler Mining District in Northwest Alaska.

The meeting and is planned to run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Westmark Hotel.

The meetings are open to the public and testimony will be taken at the conclusion of the meeting.

The project was erased from the capital budget on Monday as the administration cut any project that wasn’t eligible for matching funding. A spokeswoman for the governor said it was a blanket cut and doesn’t reflect the governor’s position on any given project.
