The bid for school board Seat D is now down to two candidates.

Allyson Lambert, who would have been the incumbent, said she withdrew her name from the list of candidates around noon on Monday. This leaves Jennifer Luke and Mike Kenna vying for the seat on the Fairbanks North Star Borough Board of Education.

Lambert has recently taken a new job, which entails a lot of traveling, and her son is planning to attend school out of state. Between traveling for work and family, Lambert said she did not believe she could attend all the meetings and give the position the work it requires, so she elected to withdraw.

“That’s just the way I feel. You have to be able to give 100% to that position,” she said.

There is one other school board seat, Seat C, up for election this year, with Matthew Sampson, Kimba Manning and Brandon Boylan all in the running for the position.

This year’s municipal election will take place Oct. 1.
