Alaska Blockbuster stores to stay open as company closes retail outlets

FAIRBANKS—Blockbuster announced today that it plans to shutter its remaining corporate-owned retail stores in the U.S., but Alaska outlets will be unaffected by the move.

Alaska's 13 video-rental stores are independently owned by Anchorage-based Border Entertainment and will stay open, said General Manager Kevin Daymude. That includes two Fairbanks locations and one in North Pole.
