Everyone is welcome to participate in the Fourth of July parade in Healy, from tiny tots to senior citizens. The only thing more fun than being in the parade, is watching the parade.

It goes just a short distance from the main Healy intersection, down the Spur Road, to the Tri-Valley Community Center. Along the way, friends and neighbors waved to each other and waved American flags. The Denali Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center organized the parade.

This was a special holiday because Healy also celebrated its centennial. One float boasted a giant birthday cake in honor of the community’s 100 years. A real cake was consumed at the community barbecue that followed at Otto Lake, hosted by the Healy Valley Lions Club. There were a few short speeches, some old-time games that included sack races, an egg catch and and lots of visiting.
