Volunteer firefighters with the McKinley Volunteer Fire Department found the perfect place to practice their extrication and stabilization skills recently — the Denali Borough landfill.
All they needed were a few junk cars and some simulated accident scenes. The landfill made that happen.
The seven volunteers and Chief Dave DeCaro practiced removing victims from scrunched cars and keeping those vehicles as stable as possible during the extrication process.
They all agreed that it was a “pretty great way to spend a Saturday.”
