Twenty-five youngsters in Healy got to perform one musical number on stage with the cast of Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” last weekend, after taking an afternoon workshop.

Fairbanks Academy of Children’s Theatre — FACT — headed 110 miles south on the Parks Highway last Saturday, after a successful two-weekend run of the show in Fairbanks. They arrived with 28 cast members between the ages of 7 and 15, a U-Haul filled with sets and props, and an army of parent volunteers to help put it all together.

This is the second year FACT has shared its talent with the Denali Borough. Last year, the show “Mary Poppins” was featured.

The Saturday afternoon workshop was filled with stagecraft and performing activities, including lots of improvisation. Each local kid attending had a workshop buddy from the cast to put them at ease, learning some dance steps and hearing the familiar, popular song “Let It Go.”

Tri-Valley School/Kids In Motion treated theater-goers and performers to free ice cream after the show.
