FAIRBANKS - Saturday was a perfect day to join the Chena Riverwalk. Many families strolled along the edge of the river that flows through town.

Activities and educational information lined the two-mile route, from Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center to the Carlson Center.

Children had fun making dragonfly magnets, colorful fish prints and spinners. They planted flowers and learned how to recycle.

They even got to help name a chicken at the recycle booth.

“How about Recycle Rosie?” asked a bicyclist who pedaled past.

This was the third year for the event, sponsored by the Tanana Valley Watershed Association.
