ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A man shot by a rifle at an Anchorage home has died and police have launched a homicide investigation.
The man's name was not immediately released because next of kin had not been notified.
Police just after 8 p.m. Tuesday responded to a report of a gunshot at a home on east 26th Avenue.
Investigators determined that adults inside had been handling a rifle and it discharged. The rifle shot hit a man in his upper body.
Police found the man inside and he was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police announced Wednesday morning that the man had died.
Officers took multiple people in for questioning but did not make an immediate arrest.
